Georgian Period Engraving of a Madagascar Giant Swallowtail
Large early engraving depicting a Pharmacophagus antenor (Madagasgar Giant Swallowtail) which is known for its large size and wingspan. Drawn and engraved by Frederick Nadder or his son in London between 1789-1813. It was hand coloured at the time with a combination of watercolour and layered gouache, making the colours particularly brilliant. 19th century frame.
