17th Century Burmese Salver ex-collection Maurice Collis (1889-1973)

Numbered and described in the collector's notes as "B.49. Brass salver with a foliate edge. In the centre is a circle with a decoration of dots, one of the limited motives of Siamese 16th/17th century metal work.  Dug up at Shwedu, near Mergui"', Southern Burma,  fine crack near the broad rim.

Morris Collis was an administrator in Burma when it was part of the British Empire.  Google him for an interesting bio.
