Antique Oil "Christmas Eve at La Dent Du Midi" by Swedish Artist Ellin Billing

Oil on canvas initialed E B and dated (18)84 in the lower left corner.  The title "Julafton vid La Dent du Midi" (Christmas Eve at La Dent Du Midi) written on the back stretcher.  La Dents du Midi are part of the Chablais Alps in the canton of Valais, Switzerland  "Ellin Billing von til farmor" (Ellin Billing friend of grandmother) is written on lower stretcher.  Further provenance is attached to the back which indicates that Ellin Billing went to a Swiss boarding school and that the painting was probably painted at that time.  It also says that the original gilt frame was damaged and replaced in 1972.  Swedish artist painted in Switzerland
