17th Century Burmese Offering Container ex-collection Maurice Collis (1889-1973)
Footed bronze offering container, collection number B59. In his notes Maurice Collis says "it is no doubt an ecclesiastical vessel, judging from the fact that it has inspired certain modern lacquer vessels used for monastery food. Late 17th century, excavated at a village on the Little Tenasserim beyond the town of that name." Having dents and pieces missing from the lid as can be seen in the photos, Ex collection Maurice Collis (1889-1973) who had been District Magistrate in Rangoon when Burma was part of the British Empire.
