French Les Islettes Faience Plate, Circa 1820

Hand-painted earthenware faience (tin glaze) plate depicting a bird surrounded by a distinctive linear border which was typical of the early period of pottery being made in Les Islette, circa 1800-1820, north-eastern France.  Retaining its old French attachment for hanging on the wall.  Having a few minor chips to the rim (see third photo) which is considered acceptable for faience pottery.
