Native American Antique Basket Containing a Nested Set of Nine Baskets
Nested set of 10 baskets, the largest being hand woven by Native Americans of the Eastern Algonquin nation, most likely Penobscot. The foundation being ash splint dyed green and sweet grass. Nine other baskets nest neatly inside and are woven from plant fibre. Their origin is unknown although they were found together, from an old English collection, circa 1900, Maine-Nova Scotia area
