Mid-Century Swedish Oil Painting by Anna Lundmark, 1956

Oil painting on hardboard painted within the Scandinavian modernist and expressionist movement that flourished in the post WWll era.  Anna Lundberg used a combination of scumbling, dry-brushing, and layered vertical strokes to build a rich texture into this painting.  Signed and dated in the lower left corner, Anna-Lisa 1956, and A. Lundmark on the back.  It was a common convention at the time for Scandinavian women painters to sign only their first name if was a double-barrel name.
